Another “pinch me” moment. Or DON’T pinch me because I’m dreaming and I don’t want to wake up! But that’s impossible because I’m in front of the biggest band out of Germany and they are LOUD and there are literally thousands of people behind me screaming out the words to their hit songs and those are plentiful! Hit after hit, plus lots of action on the stage.

“Monsters of Rock” was the show and Scorpions were second to the headlining band, Van Halen. I was happy to go to this show with one of my best friends who happened to be from Germany and was a HUGE Scorpions fan. We were also accompanied by my future husband. What a great time and a looong hot day, but we didn’t complain even while using the Porta-Potties. 90 degrees + Porta-Potties = Pee-yew!.

When you go see the Scorpions in concert, you get your money’s worth. This is one of the hardest working bands ever! I was a fan long before I stood before them. Little ol’ me at the base of the stage and here are these Rock Gods right in my face. When Scorpions got off the stage, another mini-riot broke out. By this time, it was dark and cooling off, so it’s a good thing I had a jacket — not to wear but to use as protection from flying water bottles and food! Me and column writer Maxine were huddled together screaming, but also laughing as we can hear the splat of crap hitting our makeshift shelter! Finally, the crowd calmed down as Van Halen hit the stage. You might be wondering why I don’t have photos of Van Halen? I wish I was issued the correct press pass to be able to photograph them. They meant a lot to me since I met my future husband in the parking lot while trying to score tickets for their show in ‘86. Oh well, somebody F#$$ up! In any case, it was still an amazing day.

P.S.  I want to personally thank Scorpions for being so kind in making love to my camera. Especially Rudy. I wish I could have shot more than just the first three songs, but, oh well, rules are rules. Besides, I enjoyed watching the rest of their set from the side stage. Talk about a great view. Danka guys!
